Istorie și memorie. Marea Unire în amintirile hunedoreanului Victor Șuiaga

Gina BODA

Abstract:
Victor Șuiaga, a major personality from Hunedoara and an absolute patriot, was one of the fewest who recorded his memories, with important historical significance, thus contributing to the enrichment of the local historical fund. His memories embrace information especially related to the years of school overlapped with the years of the First World War, as well as with the effervescent period of the Great Union. As active participant and eyewitness to the national events of the first two decades of the 20 th century, he offers valuable information about their deployment at local level, about the population's reaction towards that epoch, about the involvement of the local population, about the people who can be perceived as local heroes and who have been unjustly forgotten; his memories stand for a genuine chronicle of those times. The Great Union, nevertheless, stands out by its particular importance for all Romanians, and is offered a special place in his writings.
