The Meaning of the Term "Desertum" in the Transylvanian Document

Abstract:

The earliest documentary texts regarding the Transylvanian medieval historicity give rise to numerous and intense polemics within the academic environment. Such documents, mostly products of external chanceries, specialized and extremely sensitive to the utilization of an adequate terminology, have to be studied with a special regard to the specificity of the issuing institution. The analysis of the term desertum falls into such a complex approach, as its juridical meaning opens new perspectives of historical exegesis.
