COMPONENTELE NATURALE ALE TERITORIULUI CU POPULAȚIE ROMÂNEASCĂ DIN MARAMUREȘUL DE NORD

Vasile-Constantin Țiplea , Nicolaie Hodor

Abstract:
The natural components of the territory with a Romanian Population in Northern Maramures, an old Romanian region, located in center of Europe, part of the "Land of Maramures", is today part of Ukraine, the Transcarpathian Region. The number of Romanian inhabitants in the region has gradually decreased over time, the Romanian ethnic majority remaining only in an area on the Apșița Valley and in the surroundings, Teceu and Rahău districts. The natural components of the territory are favorable for the population to live. The relief, having generally the appearance of a hilly plateau, with wide valleys, favored the formation of large villages, and on the gentle peaks, of hamlets with households scattered among forests, hayfields and orchards. The relatively mild climate, moderate temperate, rich hydrographic network, good quality water, vegetation, fauna and soils proper for extensive agriculture, have created a territorial ensemble and a relatively favorable environment for the population and development of society. Despite all the vicissitudes of history, the region remains an important source of Romanian civilization, culture and tradition.
